KA HO‘OULU INNOVATION AWARDS
OFFERED BY THE HAWAI‘I CATHOLIC SCHOOLS OFFICE AND CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY
Overview: The National Catholic Education Association has an Innovation in Catholic Education annual awards program to foster creativity and growth in Catholic schools nationwide. In 2020 Hawaii Catholic Schools and Chaminade University initiated a new award to recognize innovation by our grades preK-12 educators.
The Ka Ho‘oulu Hawai‘i Catholic Education Innovation Award focuses on ‘Innovation for Mission’. There are several themes that will define this program:
- Innovation as a call to remain relevant and attractive to our stakeholders, to continue to thrive in a competitive landscape, to best serve our students and to glorify God through our work;
- An emphasis on capturing and celebrating the current creativity of our educators, as well as fostering new directions and initiatives;
- A broad focus on innovations inside and outside the classroom;
- The development of a culture of innovation with constant attention to measurable outcomes and impact;
- Acknowledging the inspirational role of the Holy Spirit in the work of innovation.
Award Type: Recognition and celebration of a major innovation that has advanced Catholic education in Hawai‘i
Who is eligible: Individuals or teams; faculty and administrators/staff; currently employed at a Hawai‘i Catholic School (all grade levels K-12)
What types of project are we looking for: Projects can fall into one or more of the following categories:
- Exemplifying the Catholic worldview
- Supporting quality academics
- Technology integration
- Data-driven decision making
- Promoting operational vitality
What do the awards involve:
- Recognition at the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit
- Cash prize and trophy
- Required presentation at annual Hawai‘i Catholic Education conference
